About this event
The Mini Mach Adventure Challenge is a fun and welcoming introduction to off-road multi-sport racing, designed for juniors, families and first-time adventure racers. Held in Finch Hatton in the Pioneer Valley on Sunday, 9 May 2027, the event combines outdoor activity, navigation and teamwork in a supportive community setting.
Starting from the Finch Hatton RSL, participants will complete an approximately 8-kilometre course featuring a mountain bike ride, safe Cattle Creek water crossings and foot trails through local farmland. The course offers an action-packed way to experience adventure racing while exploring the scenic landscapes of the Pioneer Valley.
Junior participants can take part solo or in pairs, depending on age and experience. Children aged six to eight must be paired with an adult or a person aged 16 or over, staying within 10 metres of their partner. Participants aged eight and over may compete with a mate, sibling or parent, or take on the course independently.
Parents and carers paired with a child aged six to 10 can take advantage of the event’s complimentary parent participation offer. This makes the Mini Mach an accessible option for families looking to share an active outdoor experience.
Sign-in, wristband collection and bike compound set-up begin at 6.30am, followed by a mandatory safety and course briefing at 7.45am. All race waves start at 8am, with podium presentations and a bike draw scheduled for 9.15am.
The Finch Hatton RSL serves as event headquarters and offers on-site camping, with toilet and hot shower facilities available throughout the weekend. Participants and supporters can make a weekend of the occasion by camping, spectating, volunteering or taking part in the wider Mach Adventure Challenge program.
With a combination of mountain biking, water crossings, navigation and trail activity, the Mini Mach Adventure Challenge delivers an energetic and family-friendly taste of adventure racing in the heart of Queensland’s Pioneer Valley.
