About this event
The Mt Bogong Conquestathon is a challenging 21km return mountain trek to the summit of Victoria’s highest mountain, Mt Bogong, which rises to 1,986 metres. The course includes approximately 1,410 metres of elevation gain, making it a demanding test of endurance and hill-climbing ability.
Starting near Tawonga, the route climbs the steep Staircase Spur for approximately 9km to the summit. Participants then descend via Eskdale Spur to Camp Creek Gap before following a four-wheel-drive track for the final 8km back to the start and finish area.
For safety and event management, participants must reach the summit by midday and Camp Creek Gap by 2pm. Entries are capped at 350 participants, making early registration advisable.
The event also supports the Birkebeiner Nordic Ski Club’s search-and-rescue fundraising efforts. Participants should be prepared for rapidly changing alpine conditions, steep and uneven terrain, and a long, strenuous day in the mountains.
