About this event
The Narrabeen Beach Challenge returns to Narrabeen Beach on Sunday, 1 November 2026, opening the Sydney ocean swimming season with a choice of three swims: 300 metres, 800 metres and 1.8 kilometres.
The event offers an accessible introduction to ocean swimming as well as longer-distance options for experienced swimmers. The 300-metre swim is a non-competitive event for junior swimmers aged nine and over, while the 800-metre course is designed for swimmers aged 12 and over who are new to open water or prefer a shorter challenge. The 1.8-kilometre swim is open to swimmers aged 15 and over and follows a longer circuit along the break.
Courses are laid out in a distinctive shape inspired by a Marie Antoinette champagne glass, providing a broad, flowing route off Narrabeen Beach. Participants can choose one swim or combine distances for a full morning of ocean swimming.
Registration opens at 7.00 am, followed by the 300-metre swim at 8.30 am, the 800-metre swim at 9.00 am and the 1.8-kilometre swim at 10.00 am. Presentations are scheduled for 11.30 am on the clubhouse lawn, with registration closing 15 minutes before each swim start.
