About this event
The Narrabeen Beach Challenge is a friendly community ocean swim held at Narrabeen on Sydney’s northern beaches. It offers a relaxed, low-key atmosphere with a strong surf club feel, making it a great introduction to open-water swimming as well as an enjoyable start to the summer swim season.
Swimmers can choose from a range of distances, including a short 300m option, an 800m swim, or the longer 1.8km course. The event is designed to be accessible while still giving more experienced swimmers a satisfying challenge, and you can mix and match distances for a full ocean-swim day.
Wetsuits are welcome but not required, and water safety is provided throughout the course. The swim is typically suited to those with basic swim fitness, especially for the longer distance, and the sea conditions, beach setting and supportive crowd all add to the appeal.
It is a simple, well-run beach event that celebrates community, ocean swimming and the laid-back spirit of the coast.
