About this event

The Point Leo Swim Classic is a long-running Boxing Day ocean swim and a much-loved summer tradition at Point Leo Beach, offering a lively way to wrap up the festive season. It is hosted by the local surf life saving club and forms part of the Great Victorian Swim Series, drawing swimmers of different abilities to the coast each year.

The event typically features a range of distances, including a 400m swim for newer or younger participants, a 1.2km Point Leo Swim Classic, a 2.5km challenge, and a 4km beach run for those who prefer to stay dry. The swim is known for its relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere and for making the most of Point Leo’s natural beach setting.

For 2026, the event has been rescheduled from Boxing Day and is set for Saturday 26 December 2026. It remains a great summer outing for competitors and spectators alike, with a community feel and plenty of festive-season energy.
