About this event

The Victorian Open Water Championships bring Victoria’s top distance swimmers to Geelong for a high-level day of racing at Eastern Beach. This premier open water event is a key fixture on the state and national swim calendar, with distances ranging from 500m through to 10km, so there is something to suit rising juniors, club swimmers and seasoned marathon competitors alike.

Set in the sheltered waters of Corio Bay, the course is known for being well marked and backed by experienced officials and water safety support. The event combines serious competition with a relaxed coastal setting, making it a standout summer day for swimmers and spectators.

With Grass-lined spectator areas, a scenic waterfront backdrop and Geelong’s easy-going summer atmosphere, it offers more than just racing. It is a chance to watch elite open water swimming up close, enjoy the beachside location and see future champions test themselves in challenging conditions.
