About this event

Prepare to get off the beaten track at the ZACH MACH River Run, part of the “Off the Beaten Track” Trail Run Series in Finch Hatton, Queensland. Held alongside the ZACH MACH Adventure Challenge, this off-road event takes runners across uneven terrain, through rainforest, along cane paddocks and over creek crossings.

Choose between a fun 5-kilometre course and a longer river run designed for adventurous trail runners. Both distances showcase the natural scenery of the Pioneer Valley and include varied surfaces that may be muddy, wet, sandy or rocky.

  • Short course: A 5-kilometre out-and-back run featuring rainforest, cane paddocks and a crossing of Cattle Creek.
  • Long course: A challenging trail run with scenic rainforest, mud, water, sand, rocks and multiple creek crossings. The course crosses privately owned land and five local farms.

Creek crossings may be deep, so participants should be prepared to get wet—potentially very wet. Suitable trail-running shoes, clothing that can handle mud and water, and a willingness to tackle rugged conditions are recommended.

The race starts at 10.30am, with the event starting and finishing at the Finch Hatton RSL on Anzac Parade. Access to the trail is restricted outside the event, as the course uses private property made available exclusively for this annual trail-running experience.
