The Bloody Long Walk: Mornington
Event location
Description
The Bloody Long Walk on the Mornington Peninsula is a 35km endurance challenge taking place on Sunday, 19 October 2025. The route stretches from Point Nepean National Park to Martha Cove Marina, Melbourne, VIC.
Participants can walk, jog, or run while enjoying stunning coastal scenery, all in support of raising vital funds to advance research and find cures for mitochondrial disease (mito).
Organised by the Mito Foundation, this event raises awareness of mitochondrial disease—a serious genetic disorder that impairs the body’s cells’ ability to produce energy. Approximately one in 200 Australians carry genetic variations that increase their risk of developing mito, and one Australian child is diagnosed with a life-threatening form of the disease each week. Tragically, most children diagnosed with mitochondrial disease do not survive beyond their first five years.
Join us in this meaningful challenge to support affected families and contribute to critical research aimed at improving lives and finding a cure.
