About this event
The MMAD Mount Martha Swim is a well-known open water swimming event held each year on Australia Day in Mount Martha, on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. It is hosted by the Mount Martha Life Saving Club and has been part of the local swimming calendar since 1997.
The event is designed for swimmers of all abilities, with distances that have included a 200m Nipper Swim, 400m Novice Swim, 1.2km Classic Swim and 5km Endurance Swim. The main swim is the signature feature of the day, while the shorter events offer a welcoming entry point for younger or less experienced swimmers.
It is also supported by extensive water safety arrangements, with more than 60 water safety personnel typically assisting across the event, making it one of the safer and more community-focused open water swims in the region.
For swimmers looking for a social experience, the event has also offered a Swim With a Friend, Family or Team option in the 1.2km event, encouraging participants to enjoy the swim together rather than race individually.
With its scenic bay setting, relaxed atmosphere and range of distances, the MMAD Mount Martha Swim is a popular summer tradition for both competitive swimmers and families looking to take part in a classic Australia Day event.
