The 32nd annual Sparke Helmore Newcastle City Triathlon will take place on Sunday, 9 November 2025, from the scenic Camp Shortland near Nobbys Beach on Newcastle Harbour.
Recognised as one of Australia’s most picturesque triathlon courses, the event features an ocean swim adjacent to the beach, a cycle loop from Foreshore Park to Newcastle Baths including Wharf Road and Fort Drive, and a flat, fast run course along the foreshore.
Competitors can choose from three race categories: the Corporate/Enticer triathlon for beginners and short-course specialists, the Sprint distance triathlon, or the Junior Triathlons for children aged 7 to 13 years. Participants may race individually or as part of a 2-3 person relay team.
This event attracts both seasoned athletes and newcomers, offering a community-focused atmosphere with spectators close to the action. It also serves as a qualifying event for the World Triathlon Championships in the sprint category.
Distances:
Triathlons (Swim + Bike + Run) - solo/relay:
Corporate/Enticer: 350m + 10K + 2.5K
Sprint: 750m + 20K + 5K
