The O'Keefe Challenge - Trail Run/Walk returns on Sunday, 21 September 2025, in Heathcote, VIC, Australia, offering a variety of trail running and walking events along the scenic O’Keefe Rail Trail.
Participants can choose from several distances: a 42.2km marathon, half marathon (21.1km), 10km run, 5km fun run/walk, a 1km Kids Dash, and a 500m Junior Superhero Dash.
This trail follows the historic 1888 railway route, winding through diverse landscapes including bushland, open fields, farms, and alongside Lake Eppalock. Opened in 2015 for cycling, walking, and recreational running, the O’Keefe Rail Trail provides a natural, accessible surface ideal for both off-road and road running enthusiasts seeking a scenic alternative to bitumen paths.
