THE TOUR DE BRISBANE IS A WEEKEND OF CYCLING FOR PROS AND RECREATIONAL CYCLISTS HEADLINED BY THE UCI GRAN FONDO WORLD SERIES EVENT
The Tour de Brisbane is a UCI qualifying event through the streets of Brisbane. As the name suggests, this ride is based in Brisbane. Along with the races, you’ll find three non-competitive cycling events. The Tour de Brisbane also raises funds for the Amy Gillett Foundation.
The Tour de Brisbane is one of three UCI qualification events now held in Australia. The other one is the Amy’s Gran Fondo in Lorne, Victoria. The 2023 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships are in Glasgow, Scotland, UK.
As a rider, the choice is to start with the UCI riders over the 110 km course or ride one of the three non-competitive events – the 80km Medio, the 50 km Piccolo or the 14 km Community Ride which is for families.
The UCI Gran Fondo World Series is your chance to line up against your age group and see exactly how you stack up nationally and maybe against the world! The Gran Fondo distance is perfect for cycling enthusiasts and those craving a new fitness goal to tick off your bucket list! You’ll be riding from the Showgrounds and the Story Bridge to Freeways, Busways and Tunnels closed for riders only once a year – this is an experience not to be missed.
The 70km Medio distance is perfect for any cycling enthusiast or someone looking to conquer the ultimate Sunday ride. You’ll be cycling from the Showgrounds and the Story Bridge to Busways and Tunnels, join your mates for a once a year celebration of all things cycling.
The Piccolo distance is perfect for anyone looking for a memorable Sunday ride with your mates on fully closed roads. You’ll be cycling from the Showgrounds and the Story Bridge to Busways and Tunnels, join your mates for a once a year celebration of all things cycling.
The Tour de Brisbane is also a celebration of cycling with the National Road Series (NRS) Representatives race over 2 stages. This is the road race on the same 120km course as well as a criterium on an inner-city Short Circuit race.
Brisbane weather at this time of year is very stable. Being in a semi-tropical zone and mid-autumn, temperatures should range from mid-teens to high 20s. If it does rain it should only be a light shower, as the rainy season will be over.
This is a weekend of activities, with rides to suit those looking for a challenge or the opportunity to stretch your legs! And don’t forget about qualifying for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.
