Description
Organiser: BIKE NORTH
The Tour de Cowra is a festival of cycling that takes place over the Easter long weekend in Cowra, a town located in the Central West region of New South Wales, Australia. Cowra is renowned for its Japanese gardens and cultural center, wineries, and food along the Lachlan River.
The Tour de Cowra program revolves around daily rides into the surrounding countryside to explore small towns. All rides start and end at the Rose Garden Cafe/Visitor Centre, with sign-on/sign-off. The rides cater to all levels of riders, with multiple routes and options available on Saturday and Sunday.
The weekday rides range from 40 to 70 km in length, with some local undulations, such as the climb of Mt Collins or the undulation climb up the Darby Falls Rd.
The weekend rides' length and destination vary each day to accommodate different riders' levels. On Saturday, the Tour de Cowra rides range from 55, 95, and 120 km loops to the north-west towns of Canowindra and Gooloogoong through the patchwork of fields. On Sunday, the rides range from 80 km out to Greenthorpe and back or the alternative 80 and 100 km rides out to Wyangala Dam.
The real delight of the Tour de Cowra is discovering the towns that are out of the way and off the highways. Return for further visits later in the day or as required.
