Take on the chill of Port Phillip Bay at the Winter Solstice Swim and Curry Night in Black Rock. This atmospheric night swim combines cold-water swimming with the reassurance of bright lights and on-water support from kayakers, creating a memorable midwinter challenge for swimmers of different abilities.
Swimmers can choose from 500-metre, 1-kilometre and 1.5-kilometre distances, making the event suitable for a range of experience levels. The swim takes place after dark, with glowsticks, lighting and safety crews helping guide participants around the course.
After returning to shore, warm up with a hearty curry night and enjoy the event’s welcoming community atmosphere. It is an opportunity to share stories, celebrate the achievement and embrace the distinctive combination of ocean swimming, winter adventure and good food.
Participants should be prepared for cold-water conditions and select a distance appropriate to their swimming ability. The event is held at Black Rock Yacht Club in Black Rock, Victoria.
