Great Ocean Trail Ultra
Event location
Description
Organiser: Tour de Trails
The Great Ocean Trail Ultra, held on Saturday, 25 October 2025, offers challenging trail running events along Victoria's iconic Great Ocean Walk. Participants can choose from a 100km solo race, a 45km solo race, or a two-person relay covering the full 100km distance.
The 100km solo course starts at Apollo Bay and traverses the entire Great Ocean Walk trail, winding through lush Otway forests, along rugged headlands, and across windswept beaches, finishing near the world-famous Twelve Apostles. The two-person relay divides this distance into legs of approximately 55km and 45km.
The 45km solo option covers the latter half of the trail, beginning at Johanna Beach and following the scenic route via the Great Ocean Road.
The terrain is predominantly singletrack (about 73%), with 20% fire trail and gravel paths, 5% beach running, and a small portion (2%) on pavement, offering a diverse and rewarding trail experience.
This is a cupless event, so participants must bring their own hydration containers to refill at aid stations, supporting the race’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
Distances:
45K
100K - solo
100K - relay (teams of 2)
