Description

Event Date:

The Black Mountain Run Up & Power Walk on Tuesday, 16 December 2025 is part of a monthly series held on the third Tuesday of each month in Canberra, ACT. This free event, organised by the Australian Mountain Running Association, features a 2.6 km run or power walk starting from Clunies Ross Street, Acton, and finishing at the summit of Black Mountain.

The course begins with an 800-meter flat section along a 4WD trail adjacent to the Botanic Gardens fence. Participants then turn left onto Frith Road, ascending approximately 400 meters uphill before turning right at the signposted Centennial Trail. After passing through the Canberra Nature Park gate, the route veers left onto the Summit Trail, also clearly signposted. Near the summit, at the highest point of the concrete section, a final right turn leads to the finish line, 150 meters away.

Participants should arrive between 12:30 pm and 12:40 pm for a briefing, with the event starting promptly at 12:45 pm. Finish times are recorded at the summit, where runners and walkers are asked to clearly write their full name on the finish pad. Photography at the start and finish is typically provided and shared on the Australian Mountain Running Facebook page.
